Acne Treatment and Healing: The Power of Frankincense Essential Oil

Essential oils are perfect anti-acne and anti-ageing DIY moisturizer. One of the best essential oil, with all its beneficial properties, is frankincense. I have given details of the properties of frankincense that make it special:

It certainly is the best essential oils.

It certainly is the most beneficial essential oils. It is thought to be a heal-all, the “King of Oils.” Frankincense has many different properties and it has a lot of all-around health uses.

Its scientific properties are; antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and many more. These properties make frankincense useful for reducing acne and improving skin health.

Anti-inflammatory

If your skin is blotchy and red, and your acne swollen and red, it is called inflammation. Frankincense is a powerful anti-inflammatory; it can reduce and prevent acne and help treat it quickly.

Another benefit of frankincense is that it reduces the discomfort if your acne is physically painful.

Powerful anti-ageing agent

Frankincense is cytophylactic, meaning it increases the skin’s regeneration of healthy cells, protects the existing skin cells and tissues, and keeps them pushing up properly.

This makes your skin look healthy and vibrant. Also, it prevents your skin from clogging, which reduces acne and whiteheads.

Frankincense is very astringent as well; it tones and tightens the skin preventing wrinkles and fine lines.

Amazing wound and scar healer

Frankincense is both vulnerary and cicatrisant which means that it heals wounds. It will help you heal acne wounds quickly. Also, if you use frankincense regularly, other resulting red marks and scabs will be on their way out quicker than normal. And even if you do get a pimple, it will be healed in recorded time.

Promotes Healthy Digestion

A dysfunctional digestive system can cause a body-wide inflammation that can appear on the skin. Frankincense stimulates bile, stomach acid, and peristaltic action.

This helps in moving food through the digestive system smoothly and reduces overall bodily inflammation.

Facilitates Healthy Hormones Production

Frankincense regulates and promotes the healthy production of estrogen. Also, it promotes a healthy and regular menstruation cycle.

It not only reduces PMS symptoms but also helps in combating the hormonal breakout which is the most annoying symptom of all.

Relieves Anxiety and Stress

Frankincense works great for reducing stress and anxiety. It gives you a feeling of peace and relaxation. Inhaling it promotes deep breathing. Moreover, it has a sedative effect which helps you to sleep calmly.

It is known that stress can cause breakouts. Frankincense reduces the stress level which, in turn, benefits the skin. It doesn’t solve all your problems, but it certainly is nice.

You can make your evenings and nights more relaxing by putting it in a diffuser with some other essential oils such as lavender and chamomile.

Even you don’t have a diffuser, you can cash its benefits by putting a few drops on a paper towel and place it near your pillow.

Other Benefits

Some other benefits of frankincense include:

  • Combatting respiratory issues
  • Preventing gas
  • Promoting a healthy body circulation
  • Healing oral and dental issues

How to Use Frankincense

Frankincense oil,  like all other essential oils, is either applied topically or inhaled. However, if you get a food-grade one, frankincense can also be taken internally.

Keep in mind that essential oils are very strong. You have to properly dilute them with carrier oils such as argan, jojoba, or hemp seed for applying topically. You can also add a few drops to your DIY moisturizer for skin benefits. Mix it with the dilator in such a way that it makes up only 2-3% of the total concoction.

When not to use Frankincense?

Frankincense doesn’t have any side effects as such. However, it is apparently toxic in high concentrations and doses, that’s the reason it should be diluted before using.

It should not be used during pregnancy because it has a toning effect on the uterus.

It is recommended that you do a little research and consult your dermatologist before using essential oils.
